Huge congratulations to Sara Cox on completing the Northern Marathon for Children in Need! What a phenomenal achievement—and a powerful reminder that age is not a limit, but a launchpad.

Those of us 50+ are not “past it.” We are not in inevitable decline. We are capable of more than we often allow ourselves to believe. We can build strength we thought was lost. We can rise to challenges that once felt out of reach. Yes, we may have limitations or things to work around—but that doesn’t mean we give up. It means we adapt, we persist, and we grow.
One of the Strong 4 Life participants recently shared some words about her own journey—choosing to do something for herself. To feel fitter, stronger, and more able. It’s never too late to start. And you don’t have to do it alone.
If you’re reading this and wondering if you could do something too—the answer is yes. You can. And I’ll cheer you every step of the way.
Movement Matters: Unlocking the Power of Your Glutes
This week, a class attendee shared something that made my day: "I’m walking so much better now I’m pushing off properly!"
That’s a skill we’ve been working on together — and it’s paying off. It’s incredible what happens when you start using muscles that have been quietly waiting in the wings. Your glutes (yep, your bum!) are often underused, but when you switch them on, it’s a total game changer.
Better balance, smoother walking, more power, less strain — it all starts with that push-off.
I’m resharing a post from a few years ago about making the most of your movement. Because every step counts, and every small shift can lead to big change.
Let’s keep moving forward — together.
Just finished watching Riot Women on BBC — what a brilliant, bold, and beautiful watch. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It follows a group of women in midlife who form a punk band, and it’s so much more than music. It’s about finding freedom, rediscovering yourself, dealing with frustrations, and learning something new — together.

And honestly, that’s exactly what BoxFit is for many of us.
We’re a close bunch, welcoming newcomers with open arms. It’s an hour of magic (if I might say so myself). A space to move, laugh, punch out the stress, and feel strong. Most of us are women 50+, but men come too — and everyone leaves feeling better than when they arrived.
Come and be part of something energising, and empowering.
